From Finance to Photography
Before photography, I spent several years working in the asset management industry at a hedge fund. It taught me things a camera course never could.
Precision. Professionalism. Delivering on promises without needing to be
chased. Reading a room quickly and understanding what different stakeholders
actually need, not just what they've asked for.
Those habits didn't stay in finance. They came with me.
Marc James Photography was built around the idea of "combining technical
precision with a relaxed, people-first approach" and that background
is a significant part of why that combination works. Agencies and
in-house teams come back repeatedly not just because the images are good,
but because the process is as polished as the final delivery.

both in front of and behind the camera
Over the years I've had the privilege of photographing some genuinely
extraordinary events: global brand activations, high-profile PR launches,
awards dinners, and corporate conferences for clients including Netflix UK,
Budweiser, Sky, Ford and Canva. Every job is different. The standard isn't.
What matters most to me isn't just getting the shot. It's making the
entire process smooth, reliable, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone
involved. Whether I'm embedded with an agency team producing a brand activation or working directly with a corporate marketing department, my goal is the same: be the photographer they don't have to think about on the day.
Outside of corporate work, I photograph weddings, shoot street photography on film when I get the chance, and can be found on a motorcycle, a golf course, or a mountain. Usually in that order.
